Description:
Electrical three-phase power transformers will be explained with reference made to; electromagnetic forces and electromagnetic fields, voltage and current transformation, ratios and polarity. We will introduce potential transformers and current transformers and how they are used in conjunction with instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, watt meters and energy meters. The core construction of transformers, connections within the unit and the configurations and associated problems are explained within the course. Transformer protection with examples of relays included the Buchholz relay to complete the course.
