• Recognise the importance of people in preventing accidents
Section 2 - Theory
• Identify the International Safety Management (ISM) Code requirements for maritime risk assessment
• Recognise risk assessment terminology and the requirements of the risk assessment team
Section 3 – Risk Management Process
• Identify methods, principles and stages of risk management
• Classify common hazards in the maritime industry
• Recognise the use of a risk matrix and associated control measures to manage ‘Initial’ and ‘Residual’ risks
• Identify risk assessment paperwork and the strategies used to keep assessments current and up to date
Section 4 – Other Approaches
• Identify common models for determining risk categories
• Recognise the need for ‘Stopping the Job’ and communicating ‘Lessons Learned’ to complete the assessment process
