Course information

Target group:

• Ship Masters and Deck Officers responsible for onboard safety • Engine Officers and Ratings involved in emergency response • Designated Medical / First-Aid Crew • Safety Officers and DPAs overseeing health and safety compliance • Crew on merchant, offshore, yacht, ferry, cruise, and research vessels

Description:

This course provides maritime officers and key crewmembers with practical, scenario-driven training in the recognition and management of cardiac arrest at sea.

Participants learn how to identify cardiac arrest, operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and coordinate a safe and effective resuscitation under shipboard conditions such as vessel motion, wet decks, confined spaces, and limited manpower.

The program combines procedural knowledge, device operation, and safety logic with onboard readiness skills including AED placement, maintenance, and post-incident documentation.

Realistic vessel case studies, simulations, and quizzes reinforce decision-making and reduce time-to-shock, improving survival when professional help may be hours away.
