Spatial Orientation is the ability to know where someone is in relation to their environment or to tell where a specific object is in relation to themselves. Including the ability to handle information relating to where one is coming from, where one is at a specific moment, where one is heading to. This requires having a good perception of the surroundings and comprehension of spatial arrangements.

Employers are now incorporating seafarer’s soft skills into their crewing decisions. The soft, ‘non-technical skills’ are increasingly important on board due to the rapidly changing workforce and automation of technical tasks. Additionally, maritime accident investigations indicate that a lack of soft skills and human error is the most common reason behind accidents at sea.

In this course, we learn why Gas tankers need Inert Gas for different operations, the minimum quality standards for Inert gas, and how it is produced on board. The application of each system for different types of Gas tanker operations is an integral part of each Inert gas system. We will also learn about the maintenance of these systems, and the problems we may encounter during operations. On completion of this course, you will have a very strong foundation and understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of Inert gas systems on Gas tankers.

This course is for all engineering officers and crew expected to undergo a SIRE 2.0 inspection.

This course replaces the previous PRO-015 Basic HSE-Management course.

This course is designed to improve the participants' ability to handle HSE challenges in their daily work, and provides reasons for why this work is both useful and profitable. The participants are introduced to the most important principles and methods within HSE work. The course provides a theoretical foundation in HSE, all the time with a clear view of how the work with safety, health and environment is planned and carried out in practice.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

We investigate to take lesson learned, implement preventive measures, and to prevent recurrence of adverse events. Investigating an adverse event is like peeling an onion. We start with the direct causes that are the most visible. To get to the bottom of the events, we must uncover "layer upon layer" to discover the causes behind. Technological development and new organizational structures lead to an increase in complexity, and it becomes more difficult to understand the connection between an incident and the underlying causes of an incident. This course presents method, organisation, and process for conducting investigations. The course can also be offered in combination with a classroom session.

Alternating current is the form in which electric power is delivered to businesses and residences, it is the form of electrical energy that consumers typically use when they plug kitchen appliances, televisions, fans and electric lamps into a wall socket. The usual waveform of alternating current, in most electric power circuits, is a sine wave. This course deals specifically with sinusoidal waveforms and will provide the student with a basic understanding of working with circuits involving Alternating Current. Sinusoidal waveforms, vectors and phasors, reactance and impedance of R, L, C circuits, as they relate to the basic laws and theorems of electricity will be covered in this course.
