Is there an assessment?

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.

Description of simulator exercise

Following the Introduction to Scrubbers e-learning, you will in this exercise about Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS) expected to monitor the EGCS systems on a vessel running full ahead with the main engine operational. You will be required to respond to alarms and requests from the Chief Engineer or Captain, utilizing the Engine room simulator from Kongsberg Digital.

The object of this course is to help course participants maintain and develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding their role in an emergency response situation.

By giving you a basic understanding of the theoretical principles behind surviving at sea.

When an emergency happens, it happens fast. This course will provide a basic understanding of the techniques for personal survival at sea.

What standards are referenced in the course?

• Based on parts of IMO Model course 1.19 and the provisions of table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code

The course is in accordance with the Norwegian oil and gas training curricula - courses in valve technology.  The course is a combination of theory and practical application and concludes with a web-based exam, which takes about 2 hours to complete.

This training will help participants make their daily work with valves simpler and safer.
 
Course Content
- Operate different valve types optimally
- See the difference between the different types of valves
- See if valves are functioning properly
- Test valves
- Perform 1st line maintenance
- Ensure that valves are and remain atmospherically sealed
- Dismantle and install valves on the line

This course is intended for all seafarers regardless of rank. Especially useful for Masters and Officers onboard Superyachts.

How will the course benefit me?

By providing you with an understanding of situations that can result in a 'man overboard’ and the actions to be taken should an incident occur.

How will the course benefit my company?

A man overboard requires immediate and precise intervention. To ensure that action is taken without delay, every crew member is trained in man overboard procedures and drilled on their specific duties. The correct and timely application of these procedures will increase the probability of a successful recovery.

What standards are referenced in the course?

• The Inernational Convention for Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)

Who is this course for:
Anyone wanting to take the SRC/VHR-exam.

Is previous experience required?
You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role

How will this course benefit me?
To use VHF you must have a VHF / SRC certificate. With this course you will learn the whole curriculum in a simple and easily understandable way.

By ensuring you have the competence to use VHF.

Hovedmål med kurset er å gi personer som skal utøve rollene som signalgiver, anhuker, dekksoperatør, boredekksarbeider, rigger og operatør av løfteinnretning opplæring i vurdering og forståelse av farer samt sikker bruk, vedlikehold, daglig kontroll og kasseringsregler for ulike typer løfteredskap. Anhuker og signalgiver skal samhandle og kommunisere med operatør av løfteinnretning i enhver løfteoperasjon på en slik måte at uønskede hendelser unngås.

Presentation

This training course is about what an effective cyber security risk management should be. Its goal is not to address too many technical questions as the best technical expertise in the world won’t guarantee zero cyber risk. The course aims at providing your Company with a real battle plan: know the assets, know the enemies, organize accordingly and train the effectives. Although this will not be enough to avoid a cyber incident, the severity of the consequences of a cyber incident will depend on the company’s preparedness and ability to manage it.

Who the course is for?

The course ISM Code and Cyber Risk Management is aimed at anyone interested in understanding how an effective cyber security risk management should be. This may include Top Management of Shipping Companies, Ship Managers, Technical Superintendents, Ship Masters, Officers and Seafarers; Offshore Units Operators and Technical Staff, Shipyards Technical Staff; Surveyors; P&I and/or Insurance Inspectors; etc.

Du må ha gjennomført stillaskurs del 1 før dette kurset. 

Dette kurset er bygget på krav i Forskrift om utførelse av arbeid, kapittel 17, som omhandler montering, demontering og endring av stillas.
Forskriften krever opplæring for ulike stillashøyder:
-2-5 meter: 7,5 timer teori og 7,5 timer praksis
-5-9 meter: 15 timer teori og 15 timer praksis
-Over 9 meter: 36 timer teori og 72 timer praksis.

Dette kurset forutsetter at du har gjennomført stillaskurs del1. Til sammen dekker disse kursene kravene til teoretisk opplæring for stillas over til 9 meter, og tilsvarer kravene i Forskrift om utførelse av arbeid § 17-2 -17-4 om teoretisk opplæring.
I tillegg er det krav om 72 timer praktisk opplæring under tilsyn av kvalifisert person, ref Forskrift om utførelse av arbeid § 17-2 - 17-4.

Hvordan arbeide sikkert i høyden og unngå fallskader? I følge Arbeidstilsynet er fall en av de vanligste årsakene til skader og dødsfall på arbeidsplasser. Derfor er det viktig at arbeidsgiver kartlegger farer og vurderer risikoen, og sørger for at arbeidstakere får tilstrekkelig opplæring slik at arbeidet foregår på en sikker måte. Eksempler på arbeid i høyden kan være arbeid på tak og i stige, stillasarbeid, arbeid i personløfter (lift) og arbeid på spinkle underlag med fare for å falle igjennom. Kurset gir en overordnet innføring i regelverk og bruk av utstyr og passer godt for arbeidsgivere og ledere som skal føre tilsyn ved arbeid i høyden.

Hensikt:

Kurset skal gi en overordnet innføring til ansvarlige arbeidsgivere og ledere som skal føre tilsyn ved arbeid i høyden samt at det utøves sikker bruk, kontroll og vedlikehold av ulike typer stillas, stiger, lift og fallsikringsutstyr på arbeidsplassen.

This course is only available in Norwegian.

Norwegian authorities demand that everyone using personnel lifts must have documented training in the use of lifts. It is the employers’ responsibility to provide such training for their employees. (See “Regulations concerning the performance of work” nr. 1357, § 10-2)

Objective:
The course provides theoretical knowledge in the use of personnel lifts and raises the awareness of risks and ways to mitigate these.

Who is the course for?

All seafarers that require STCW update training.

Is previous experience required?

STCW Certification is required.

This course is intended to form part of your mandated onboard training to allow you to renew your STCW certification.

How will the course benefit my company?

This course introduces the regulations for effective shipboard drills to comply with STCW code requirements introduced in the Manila Amendments.
