This course discusses stress management for seafarers. It talks about what stress is, and how it affects our bodies. Moreover, it focuses on proactive and reactive stress management strategies that individuals, colleagues, leaders, and organisations can apply to avoid the negative impact of stress on the well-being of seafarers and to the safety culture on board.

This course will also show you the most frequent checks and tests carried out by various inspectors and auditors. Learning Objectives:- At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to: · Demonstrate the various checks carried out on the lifebuoys and the MOB markers and will be able to ensure that the life buoy is compliant in all respects, ready for inspection and ready for immediate use · Demonstrate the various checks carried out on the Emergency escape breathing devices (EEBDs) and ensure they is compliant in all respects, ready for inspection and ready for immediate use. · Demonstrate the various checks carried out on Lifejackets & Immersion Suits and will be able to ensure they are compliant in all respects, ready for an inspection and ready for immediate use. · Demonstrate the various checks carried out prior to using the SCBA set; they will also be able to confidently check the fireman’s outfit, and ensure it is compliant in all respects, ready for an inspection and ready for immediate use. · Carry out an inspection of various FFA such as the International shore connection, Vent Fan Stops & Fire Flaps, Fire plan, and IMO symbols and will be able to ensure these are compliant in all respects, ready for an inspection and ready for immediate use.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In a risk assessment,  potential events and consequences are considered. In this course, we focus on unwanted events such as failures and accidents. This could be, for example, a gas leak or afire at an oil platform, that equipment stops working during an operation in a hospital, or that an accident occurs during the execution of a work task. The risk analysis process consists of three phases:

1) Planning

2) Risk assessment

3) Risk management

This course shows how these phases can be planned and implemented in practice. There are many guidelines and standards on how a risk assessmentcan be carried out, and many are adapted to particular industries and professional areas. This course presents a general approach that can be used in most industries.

•Introduction:What is risk? What is the purpose of a risk assessments?

•Risk assessment and risk management:Description of the steps in a risk assessment, what is important to look out for in the various steps, and how the risk assessment can be applied in risk management.

•Risk analysis methods:There are numerous risk assessment methods that are suitable for looking at different issues. An introduction is given to some of these; Hazid/ course risk analysis, SJA, HAZOP, FMEA and QRA. It’s crucial to choose a method that is well adapted to the problem you are looking at.

In some cases, there is a need for a number of separate ground planes, especially if you have multiple pieces of equipment on board that need to be grounded. In this course, you will learn what type of equipment benefits from grounding. You will learn the correct way of grounding with modern solutions suited for leisure boats. This includes modern ground plates, how to connect and install them, and which sizes to look for. After this course, you will know if grounding will be necessary for you and you will be able to safely install and connect them to your devices.
